Be an Industrial Social Media Marketing Evangelist!

industrial-marketing-social_media_strategiesENTER THE MARKETECTS ISSM CONTEST!  Starting 10/27/10, running through 11/17/10!

I've been beating the social media drum now for close to a year.  I've talked to my industrial customers till I'm blue in the face, and I've yet to convince one of them to commit to a full throttle social media campaign.  I get this a lot:  "Can you show me any examples of other industrial companies who have used social media successfully?"  Obviously, "success" is defined in different terms by each individual.  The important thing is, I really couldn't.

A few months ago I started sending out tweets, asking if any industrial companies would be willing to share their social media story with me.  I did receive a few responses.  Then I got the idea of sponsoring a contest offering a prize to the winner.  I wanted to have LOTS of success stories!  I would have examples to offer my industrial clients when they asked me "what can it do for me?"  I would also have case histories that I could feature on my blog and in my e-newsletter.  Voila!  (I love it when one solution meets multiple needs!)

Think of this:  you probably have a lot of customers and prospects you wish you could connect with on your various social media pages.  The more industrial companies that are using the power of social, the more pressure there will be on others to climb on board.  Remember fifteen years ago when industrial companies thought they didn't need a website?  We all know how that worked out! I believe that is what will happen with social media, as well.  It will happen faster if industrial social media pioneers and evangelists start spreading the word!

Be considered a thought leader: tell the world your social media story and help industry embrace the possibilities!  Click here for all the details, and to enter. The winner will not only receive a $250 Amazon gift card, their story will be promoted by yours truly in a number of different communications.  The contest is running between 10/27/10 and 11/17/10.  Now, start writing!  I can't WAIT to read your story!

Hi, I'm Kerry O'Malley - Industrial Marketing Muse and professional Marketect. I have over 30 years of experience developing marketing communications for engineered industrial products and services sold to industry. For the past 13 years, I've done that as a consultant through my company, Marketects.

I love the idea of advertising (and good writing) being catalysts that move people to action. I'm jazzed by the challenge of creating concepts for communications campaigns that work. I'm intrigued by the possibilities that exist on the Internet for the industrial marketer, and I'm always thinking about how to translate those opportunities to my clients. I've never practiced marketing in the retail, mass consumer arena, but I see a lot of that kind of marketing that inspires me and translates over well to the industrial world. I hope I can inspire YOU!
